hey
i got a asus mobo with via82cxxx chipset and a promise onboard, i also got a promise ide controller via pci (promise ultra ata 100 tx2 (68 at the end of the chipset), the hard drive on the via and onboard promise work, the pci promise gets detected but i get hd timeouts on it
can't copy paste the errors but they look like this:
hdi: status timeout: status=0x80 { Busy }
DMA disabled
hdh: drive not ready for command
ide4: reset: success
hdi: status timeout: status=0x80 { Busy }
hdi: drive not ready for command
ide4: reset: success
status timeout: status=0x80 { Busy }
any clue?
using the latest gentoo-sources, via82cxxxx and promise drivers build in the kernel, "enable dma by default" enabled |

If it's not too much trouble, could you see if the troubles persist even when using vanilla kernel sources? _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |
