[GSDS] python present in the Live CD???

I've been looking into testing Gentoo Linux Server Deployment System (GSDS) which says that the client can be ran from a live CD shell. I've read elsewhere that python is present in the Live CD, although I can not find it anywhere except for in a stage tarball.

Can anyone clue me in on whether I'm going about this wrong, and if not, how I could execute a python script (the GSDS client) from Live CD without extracting tarball?
