Hello
After upgrading to 2.6.3 from 2.6.2 with the same .config there are no files anymore in /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/. With 2.6.2 i have
Code: |
himbeere@irmeli himbeere $ ls -l /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/
total 0
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 4096 Feb 18 2004 cpuinfo_max_freq
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 4096 Feb 18 2004 cpuinfo_min_freq
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 4096 Feb 18 2004 scaling_available_governors
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 4096 Feb 18 2004 scaling_driver
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4096 Feb 18 2004 scaling_governor
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4096 Feb 18 2004 scaling_max_freq
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4096 Feb 18 2004 scaling_min_freq

and cool'n'quiet working. Someone else has the same problem?

The same here. Just happy to get cool'n'quiet working on my MSI Board with the beta bios and now did the kernel break things.
There are a few items in the kernel changelog about powernow-k8. |

What does dmesg say? (maybe something like "lost synchronization, throwing 2 bytes away"; take a look at Linux: 2.6 Input Drivers FAQ) _________________ clue = if 0 == 0 then clue else error "The poster didn't have any clue when he posted this." |

I'll fix it for gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.3-r2
Is yours similar to this:
powernow-k8: Found AMD64 processor supporting PowerNow (version 1.00.08a)
powernow-k8: voltage stable in 100 usec, ramp voltage offset: 2,
isochronous relief time: 3, maximum voltage step: 0
powernow-k8: pll lock time: 0x2, <4>powernow-k8: BIOS error: max voltage
vid listed as 0x00, should be at least 0x02. Using current speed.
maxfid 0xc (2000 MHz), maxvid 0x2
powernow-k8: fid 0 invalid : 0x0
