Anybody seen this before?
Also, starting complex programs (like emerge, perl, vim) takes forever, and seems to hang, then once it is loaded they run normal speed. It seems like they are waiting to be loaded by the kernel or something.

Does the CPU-load of kswapd vary over time?
I've seen it go completely wild once or twice (unfortunately without finding out why). |

Well, nifty.....
top -bd2 -n 100 |grep kswap > file.txt
will poll the activitiy of kswapd every 2 seconds for 100 seconds and write it to file.txt.
You could run something like that in a background window and track the persentages, alternatively. |

I'm having a similar problem with the system CPU usage constantly hovering around 20%.
However, the system load looks reasonable. |
