ok, got the pc back from the doctors and am installing (trying to anyway) it on a tyan tiger 230t dual p3 866 rig, I have 512 megs o ram and a geoforce vid card qith 64 megs o ram.
When I load the gentoo cd in it spins up and then gets to the first stop where I tell it to fdisk /dev/hda at that point it tells me that it cannot write to the disk that there is no sun or dos that it recognises.
I have updated the bios and Suse installs fine as does XP
Any thoughts? _________________ only the sould matters in the end |

I just saw that error on a cheap PIII that came my way. Turned out that the harddrive was on the secondary IDE channel and putting it on the primary fixed it. Doubt that's your problem but I'd suggest looking around in bios for any suspect settings. |
