Configure results:
------------------------------------------
Ogg Vorbis support: yes

Mp3 decoding support (libmad): yes
ID3 Tag handling with libid3: yes

FLAC support: yes

Audio resampling: using K3b version

Resmgr support: no

Audioplayer available (aRts) yes

Compile K3bSetup 2: yes
------------------------------------------

that is the end of the ./configure part when i emerge k3b

when I run k3b and run k3bsetup when it asks.. it asks for password for super user then after I press OK nothing happens.. ok well then I click New Audio CD since everywhere it says dont do what k3bsetup wants you to do and got

"No audio decoder plugins found. You won't be able to add any files to the audio project!"

Anyone have any idea why k3b says they exist but then says they dont exist... I've re-emerged k3b and libmad a million times and I always get the same results.

Take a look in /usr/kde/*/lib/kde3/ and see if there are files left from old versions of k3b.
The new ones sohuold be in /usr/lib/kde3:
Code:
ls /usr/lib/kde3/*k3b*

I have the same problem now. I could not find any old k3b files in /usr/kde/*/lib/kde3/.

When I try to start k3bsetup2 it fails with the following error:

Code:

There was an error loading the module.

The diagnostics is:
Library files for "libkcm_k3bsetup2.la" not found in paths
Possible reasons:
An error occurred during your last KDE upgrade leaving an orphaned control module
You have old third party modules lying around.
Check these points carefully and try to remove the module mentioned in the error message. If this fails, consider contacting your distributor or packager.

Indeed there is no such file anywhere.
There is, however, a file /usr/lib/kde3/kcm_k3bsetup2.la. In some other thread someone said to delete this file and things should work again. That does not help either. Btw. the file is installed when emerging k3b so it should be a part of it.

I also tried get rid of everthing related to k3b:
Code:

emerge unmerge k3b
updatedb
locate k3b

Then I deleted every file that seemed to be safe to delete.

After reemerging k3b the problem's still there...

Any ideas how to fix this?

Is is safe to delete the files in /var/cache/edb/dep/ and /usr/portage/metadata/cache/app-cdr/?

I'm running kde 3.2. Can I just delete the /usr/kde/3.1/ directory?

No ideas anyone?

When I have a look at what's emerge k3b installs everything looks fine. All the plugins seem to be there. It's just that k3b does not find them.
This and the fact that k3bsetup2 looks for a non-existing (maybe from an older version) file let's me think that k3b somehow uses some old configuration file or environment variable. But locate k3b should find all files related to k3b as long as there's no strange naming scheme. I couldn't also find any environment variable related to k3b.

This is getting really really frustrating.
