Ciao a tutti,
vi pongo un quesito.. scusate se la domanda può risultare stupida ma sono ancora all'inizio e sto imparando ora.
Intato vi dico che ho già cercato sul forum ma non ho trovato per ora nulla che si confacesse proprio al mio tipo di problema ed ora vi espongo il mio problema.
Ho installato gentoo (non ancora X, Gnome ed altre cose ma il minimo) e mentre facevo l'installazione la rete era tutta ok. Ho modificato /etc/conf.d/net secondo il dhcp come mi era stato suggerito su una pagina del forum in quanto uso fastweb. Quando ho configurato il kernel (2.6.3) ho aggiunto il supporto dei moduli realtek per la scheda di rete (Realtek 10/100 Mbps Ethernet PHY della MB Asus A7V8X-X) non come moduli ma statici così da evitare che magari caricassi i moduli sbagliati, ma nonostante ciò non riesce a vederla. Che posso fare?
Spero che mi sappiate dare una mano intanto vi ringrazio di già

Nel fare make menuconfig ho messo (riguardanti la rete):

leva quella "C+", mentre metti l'altra come modulo. Poi metti nel file /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.x la scritta "8139too"

Ho rifatto make menuconfig e ho tolto quella C+ poiu ho copiato la nuova bzImage in /boot (facendo cp la copio e viene eliminata quella vecchia no?) Poi ho aggiornato /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel/2.6 Solamente che c'è ancora lo stesso problema ho guardato anche qui http://www.linuxforum.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7644 e per questo ho messo anche il SiS900 nel kernel ma il problema persiste.
Forse non ho capito bene cosa c'è scritto in quella pagina (scusate ma il mio inglese è scarsino)

Lì si dice che la tua scheda madre è disponibile sia con chip di rete Realtek che Broadcom. Potresti controllare l'output di lspci oppure ripartire con il live cd e verificare con lsmod quali moduli vengono caricati.

Ciao a tutti,
Scusate se non vi ho risposto subito ma posto subito la soluzione che mi ha permesso di attivare la scheda di rete in questione.
Per prima cosa ho reinstallato tutto (perchè avevo paura di non configurare bene il kernel e magari di averlo sovrascritto su quello precedente ma questa è un'altra storia...)
Nel configurare il kernel (2.6.3) facendo make menuconfig ho messo come moduli (nella parte del networking)
Realtek RTL-8139 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapters Support
via-rhine (non si chiama proprio così ma è appena sotto a quello di prima ed è facilmente identificabile)
Poi ho editato /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.x
con nano -w /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.x
ed ho aggiunto hai moduli da far partire:
via-rhine
8139too
Spero che a chi capiterà di nuovo questo problema trovi presto questa soluzione nel frattempo vi ringrazio ancora per tutto quello che avete fatto.

Infatti penso che mi serva solo via-rhine ma ora che funziona non volevo fare danni al kernel.
Mi sapresti dire come fare a ricompilare il kernel senza perdere quello vecchio così che se non funziona posso sempre tornare a quello vecchio?

Visto che li hai compilati come moduli dovrebbe essere molto semplice provare a non caricarne uno dei due. Comunque una volta tirata su la rete un semplice lsmod dovrebbe dirti quali sono effettivamente usati.

In /boot puoi mettere più immagini e creare le relative entry nel file di configurazione del bootloader.
