|
|
i'm at the point where i must input
Code: | emerge --usepkg grub |
for my x86 architecture, but for some reason it fails to install.
a curious note is that the code for an amd architecture does actually work:
Code: | emerge --usepkg grub-static |
any suggestions? _________________ «fÅbïªn»

Do you get an error of some kind? Can you post that? |

Can you post as much as you can see above that, because that doesn't tell very much and the real cause is somewhere up.
edit: On second though that does tell something. But can you still post some more? |

here it is... after i input the grub command, it performs the global updates and this is what follows:
Quote: | Calculating dependencies... done!
>>>emerge (1 of 1) sys-boot/grub-0.93.20030118 to /
>>>md5 src_url ;-) grub-0.93.tar.gz
>>>md5 src_url ;-) grub-0.93.20030118-gentoo.diff.bz2
>>>unpacking source
>>>unpacking grub-0.93.tar.gz to /var/temp/portage/grub-0.93.20030118/work
* Applying grub-0.93.20030118-gentoo.diff...
* Applying grub-0.93-gcc3.3.diff
/usr/sbin/ebuild.sh: line 42: autoconf: command not found |

Well, there you probably have it:
/usr/sbin/ebuild.sh: line 42: autoconf: command not found
It doesn't find autoconf which is a bit weird. Do you have autoconf installed? Can you try to emerge autoconf and try grub again after that?
edit: Did you do env-update && source /etc/profile? |

Well that would be "emerge autoconf". It should have been installed when you did emerge system or with the stage 3 tarball. But emerge it again and see what happens with grub. |
