for some reason when I try to use the synaptics driver in my XF86Config it throws an error saying no synaptics device found, but if I look at the contents of dmesg after boot it says it found a synaptics touchpad:
Code:

Synaptics Touchpad, model: 1
Firmware: 4.6
Sensor: 15
new absolute packet format
Touchpad has extended capability bits
-> four buttons
-> multifinger detection
-> palm detection
input: SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad on isa0060/serio1

anyone have any clue how to get X to see this mouse?
