I"ve installed my ati-drivers and ran opengl-update ati. I have FSAAScale set to 6 in my XF86Config file, but when running any opengl apps I don't notice any AA at all? What gives? |

if you are using ati-drivers 3.7.0, you also have to set FSAAEnable to yes in XF86Config |

Hmm, I just emerged 3.7.0 and reran fglrxconfig and opengl-update ati and now all my 3D programs don't load. They apparently try to load software rendering in MESA now |

Did you do opengl-update xfree before the update? _________________ Registered Linux User #263260 |

Is it that important to you? It usually results in a big performance hit, and the effect wasn't all that obvious anyway last time I tried. If you run glxgears with FSAAScale = 1 then again with 6, do you get different scores? _________________ Per Ardua Ad Astra

It is pretty important to me since I just upgraded my video card and I use to run 2x AA all the time. I think the AA effect is very obvious, especially at lower resolutions. Maybe I've used too much pov-ray in my life, but jaggies are like nails on a chalkboard to me.
oh, and I get the same scores |

run fglrxconfig again
It's the only surefire way. If that doesn't work, it may be a holdover glx file from the 3.2.8's. In which case, run opengl-update xfree, then emerge the 3.2.7 drivers again
I would also make sure X isn't running when you do that.
After all is said and done, you won't notice the quality difference in glxgears mainly because it's too fast. But you will see the difference in other apps. |

Were you ever able to get FSAA working? I have the same problem with
an ATI Mobility FireGL T2 in a ThinkPad T41p. Using ATI's drivers,
accelerated graphics seems to be working, but not FSAA no matter what
I do.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
