|
|
I've just put together my own AMD64 PC. I needed the upgrade so thought go 64. But now after looking around for an OS I'm left with either BETA Windows64 or BETA Linux64. I want to use a Linux64 version but when will there be a stable version of the Gentoo GNU/Linux??? I know this is a hard question to answer, but I was wondering how far away does it look before a proper build of Gentoo is release for 64bit? |

the beta is quite stable (I never got a freeze!), but doesn't run every programm you want to run.

I wouldn't really call the OS itself beta, more like most of the apps are just untested. The OS itself is quite stable. |

I just saw there was a new RC, RC2 which I've downloaded and will try as soon as I get a chance to have some fun. |

If you'll check now, you'll see that the experimental folder for amd64 is empty at all of the download sites; there are now release folders for amd64 instead, both livecd as well as stages. |

Cool, got it. Now all I have to do is find some time to upgrade from 32 to 64bit OS. |
