one quick question about kernel configuration

I have seen that the 2.6.3 kernel now has support for my ASB100 hardware monitoring chip whereas my current kernel 2.6.1 has not. Is there a problem using the 2.6.1 .config file for the 2.6.3 kernel or is it o.k.? I always miss something in a new configuration and want to minmize kernel re-compilation.
