installing in vmware 4.05 (in windows: perhaps this is my problem

) , I have copied my /etc/resolv.conf into the chrooted environment and can ping things quite successfully.

I have also tried

Code:

emerge sync

without any mirrors added to my /etc/make.conf as well as providing them on the command line.

it just sits there and does nothing!

Code:

emerge-webrsync

is exactly the same, sitting there doing nothing. no network activity at all.

I've installed gentoo several times before and this was completely unexpected (first vmware install) please help!

I 'rebooted' the virtual machine and it worked. that's windows for you!
