My delete key gives "~"

At the console, when I press the delete key, it gives "~" instead. Its really annoying :evil:

Backspace works, anyway.
I have this problem from my account. If I log in as root the delete key works. What should I reconfigure?

Althought I looked for a solution here in the forums, you were luckier than me. Thank you very much! :wink:

The problem was some program created an .inputrc file at my home folder, so all the options on /etc/inputrc were overriden. Just added the addings to the etc file and deleted .inputrc.
