I have a strange problem ( i just noticed that).
I upgraded my kernel from 2.4.20-gentoo-r5 to 2.4.22-gentoo-r7. In old kernel, everything was ok.
In the 2.4.22 after i compiled it, i run it all successfully, but after alsa re-emerge, i noticed that the modules of network card and modem aren't loaded anymore. Now when i boot this kernel, only alsa modules are loaded. I went back in a /usr/src/linux/ and installed the modules again, and i could load the modules of network card and a modem at a boot time, but at this time alsa modules cant load.
Why emerge of alsa makes other modules not to work and via-versa
Actually i can load the modules of network card with insmod but not in a boot time, and also modprobe cannot find them ...
Any idea?
Also I didn't select any audio driver in kernel. I just added the sound support. Actually i used the old config which worked in previous kernel

cool i fixed it.
The problem was that modules.dep and modules.pcimap files located in /lib/modules/2.4.22-gentoo-r7/, were overwritten between emerge and modules_install.
Thanks to
CONFIG_PROTECT="/lib/modules"
in a /etc/make.conf , those files were saved from overwrite.
After I emerged the alsa-driver, I combined the contents of old file with the contents of new file, and now it loads the all the modules at the same time. |
