keyboard problem with kdm

my keyboard doesnt react when kdm starts,
but under xf86 and kde3.2 this error isnt there

whats the problem??

I was having this problem on one of my machines as well today.

Here's the fix I found:
I was running with 8 consoles... vc/1 thru vc/8, and kdm would
start up on vc/9. But xdm would work fine as would startx.
On a hunch, I scaled back to just 6 consoles (by commenting out
the extra lines of /etc/inittab and doing a 'telinit q') and presto!
kdm magically has keyboard focus again when it launches on vc/7.

Dunno why, but it worked for me (tm).
