|
|
i've just installed gentoo with reiserfs fs for the main partition. When the system was starting it made always a reisefs check but after one reboot now in the same step it says, mounting system read-only and it doenst make that check. I havent modify anything, so why now is it in that mode? i prefer the old check at boot time cause it was fast and seems more reliable. |

check you fstab for any simple errors. i installed using reisersf and i forgot to change some things in my fstab (read the notes at the top for more info on reiserfs settings) and booted fine the first time, after that it would always crash on mounting /
hope that helps. _________________ KajiShinigami |

you can add 'notail' to the reiserfs options in /etc/fstab to improve performance, however i remember seeing that message each time i boot up (am not using reiserfs) and have no problems. I think its part of the boot stage. Your filesystems will be auto checked every now and then by the boot process, so perhaps that's what you were seeing before. Are you sure your / root partition IS read only? try:
to just create a small file. _________________ Zak: Luke's making a 3D interface for Linux"
