I have forcedeth compiled as a module on gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.2-r1
I have forcedeth entry in my autoload module file, and on boot up and a manual start of eth0 brings up the eth0 interface fine (well.. it says [OK] when doing so), but runnning a ifconfig eth0 shows up no IP address. I have eth0 setup as DHCP, but when I manually give it an IP address with ifconfig, internet still doesn't work (pinging any other IP addresses). I get no error of anykind, so I have to way of really figuring out what is wrong. Any help would be helpfull |

I use that driver on an nForce 2 board. Try compiling it direct into the kernel instead of as a module. _________________ Jingle Jangle Jewellery |

I am not sure but I think that the forcedeth version contained in 2.6.2 is version 0.22 (although dmesg reports as 0.19) try upgrading to kernel 2.6.3 sice this allready has forcedeth version 0.23 which includes some important mac address fixes that affected nforce3 boards.
see http://www.hailfinger.org/carldani/linux/patches/forcedeth/
If you still have problems you should email the developers. |
