Hi everyone.
I've installed the Gentoo Linux but Grub isn't loading. There are no errors, just Windows XP starts as usual.
Gentoo is installed in a non-bootable partition, because of WinXP.

Is it a problem of bootable partition or do I had mistake something in the Grub loading configuration?

Thanks,
Etherea

What it looks like is that you did not install Grub into the MBR. At boottime it is now just booting the first partition on the first drive which in fact just boots XP (correct me if I'm wrong).

So were did you install grub is the question?

What I normally do is the following when linux and windows are co-exiting and it works very well:

Get a bootloader like Boot-us for Windows (I know, bah windows, but the bootloader stuff is still better managable for the newbie than under linux). Install grub on the boot partition (or root or whatever) for every linux distro you've got installed. Launch up Boot-us and it will automatically detect the bootable linux partitions (i.e. the partition were Grub/Lilo resides, so it will detect your Grub installation). You can choose which one should be added to the bootmenu and reboot and voila, a nice bootmenu with your installed linux distro's and XP.

This is how I'm booting Gentoo, MD8, JBLinux and XP. Booting in Gentoo is default off course :-).
