Hi, im using gnome / gdm for my desktop needs, and I am more or less happy with it.
However, one small thing still annoys me:

For reference, I am running ~86 and its rather stable (or as stable as X gets:P)
And I am running gnome currently with redhats bluecurve theme, which I find rather nice.

After some fiddling, I discovered how to change the theme the widgets in gdm use to bluecurve. Great:)

Now, the problem appears "somewhere" between gdm and where my desktop preferences have been loaded.

When I log on, I get a notification stating that gnome cant detect hostname or something like that, I know I can fix this by just ... adding a hostname, but since I am lazy, and since the problem still EXISTS I was wondering if there is a proper fix for it.

The problem is that the notification does NOT use the bluecurve theme, it has in some magical idiotic way resorted to using the default theme again, ignoring that both the users logging on and gdm wants to use bluecurve, anyone know of a proper fix?

Interesting. I know the startup message, and perhaps it is being displayed before your user preferences (meaning the theme/widget set) is being applied/used and so gnome is using it's default gtk drawing stuff. To get rid of the message add the contents of /etc/hostname to /etc/hosts:
Code:

127.0.0.1 localhost <hostname>
