Hi,

I've just recently upgraded XFree , and it seems to have removed some of the basic kde available styles. The only ones that seem to be gone are the real kde ones, since the ones that are left are CDE, SGI, Motif, Windows and Platinum. Here is everything I've merged since I've restarted X:

Code:
1077649103:  >>> emerge (1 of 1) x11-themes/gentoo-artwork-0.3 to /
1077817237:  >>> emerge (1 of 15) dev-libs/libxml2-2.6.6 to /
1077817701:  >>> emerge (2 of 15) media-libs/freetype-2.1.5-r1 to /
1077817859:  >>> emerge (3 of 15) gnome-base/libgnomeprint-2.4.2 to /
1077818127:  >>> emerge (4 of 15) gnome-base/libgnomeprintui-2.4.2 to /
1077818284:  >>> emerge (5 of 15) gnome-base/ORBit2-2.8.3 to /
1077818623:  >>> emerge (6 of 15) gnome-base/libbonobo-2.4.3 to /
1077818950:  >>> emerge (7 of 15) app-admin/fam-2.7.0 to /
1077819114:  >>> emerge (8 of 15) gnome-base/gnome-mime-data-2.4.1 to /
1077819171:  >>> emerge (9 of 15) gnome-base/gnome-vfs-2.4.2-r1 to /
1077819602:  >>> emerge (10 of 15) gnome-base/libbonoboui-2.4.3 to /
1077820056:  >>> emerge (11 of 15) app-text/docbook-xsl-stylesheets-1.62.4 to /
1077820107:  >>> emerge (12 of 15) app-text/docbook-xml-dtd-4.1.2-r4 to /
1077820122:  >>> emerge (13 of 15) app-text/scrollkeeper-0.3.14 to /
1077820236:  >>> emerge (14 of 15) x11-libs/vte-0.11.10 to /
1077820539:  >>> emerge (15 of 15) dev-util/anjuta-1.2.0 to /
1077825627:  >>> emerge (1 of 10) sys-kernel/development-sources-2.6.3 to /

1077840515:  >>> emerge (5 of 10) sys-devel/autoconf-2.58-r1 to /
1077840593:  >>> emerge (6 of 10) app-editors/quanta-3.2.0 to /
1077846364:  >>> emerge (7 of 10) dev-db/mysql-4.0.17 to /
1077850410:  >>> emerge (8 of 10) x11-libs/qt-3.3.0-r1 to /

1077860841:  >>> emerge (10 of 10) app-admin/metalog-0.8_pre20031130 to /

However, all the styles still seem to be there:
Code:
ls -l /usr/kde/3.2/share/apps/kstyle/themes/
total 100

Would anyone have any idea on how to get back the kde themes without re-emerging kde? Cause CDE is a really ugly style :P

Thanks a lot

I believe it's because qt3 was upgraded. I fixed the same problem last night by re-emerging all of kde. I didn't know if I had to emerge all of kde or just a subset so I just emerge all the components. And this morning after the emerge was done, everything works fine again.

FWIW, I would try just emerging kdelibs and kdeartwork and see if that fixes the problem.

EDIT: Found this thread https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=134984
