In a week my new mobo+cpus+RAM+snd+vid should arrive:
2xOpteron 242
MSI K8T Master2-FAR (scoobydu seems to be pleased with this mobo, and I was already looking at it anyway)
GeForce FX5200@256MB
SB Live! (I don't trust Audigy's compatibility yet)
2x1 GB Corsair RAM
Now I just need to order a power supply to go with it. I'm gonna go with an Antec TruePower 550 EPS12V, since I already have an Antec case.
I hope I can get Gentoo installed and working in a reasonable amount of time, with mucho help from this forum, no doubt.[/list] _________________ Join the adopt an unanswered post initiative today

Nice stuff you got there.
Gentoo should REALLY work nice on this monster machine. |

What can I say? I have the Tian K8W with 2x240's which I bought as soon as I could. I cannot say I'm using it all that much either but, well, I -have- it
I use all this power to check my email, play one or two games and... and... do some writing and such. And wow, watch those characters appear on the screen in a furry
Seriously though, I cannot imagine any home user needed this kind of equipment yet. |

_yet_ when I bought my P4 1.7GHz with 80GB I never thought that I would use more than 20GB. Well, now I am at 180 (used) and im buying a new hd in a few days (with a machine very close to ectospasm's). so just wait 3 or 4 years and you want to buy a new one |
