I need a rescue CD for my system, but due to my S-ATA controller (SiI 3512) the Gentoo livecds were unable to detect it. I didn't try the new 2004.0 images yet, I am downloading them now. But if they don't succeed in detecting my hardware, what shall I do?
I have a kernel patch to fix this, but how can I remaster this image? I don't want to rebuild it from scratch, I just want to put my custom kernel in.
As I am not familiar with bootable linux CDs and the Gentoo livecds in particular, can someone help me on this please?

This guide is from the Documentation, Tips and Tricks forum. It worked fine for me. There was also a thread with something similar to this yesterday. I wrote a quick step-by-step guide there.

EDIT: That was in the Installing Gentoo forum.
