it should be in the emerge -up world

did you do an emerge sync before you tried to update world?

Boy! I've just done emerge sync and looks like something's broken: Here's the error message:

Can't even do a simple emerge. How do I fix things?

I had lots of problems syncing yesterday with the north american servers and switched to the south american set and all was well after that point.

Could someone kindly let me know how to sync from a specific set of servers apart fom the ones selected by mirrorselect?

i've managed to upgrade kde 3.1 to 3.2 but i've still got 3.1 in my system. i'd like to save the space and what's the point in having both versions installed? I used emerge -up kde.

How can I remove 3.1 completely?

Try this:

Make sure you have gentoolkit emerged.

Do:

Code:
qpkg -I -v kde

That will tell you all installed kde packages and their versions. Uninstall the 3.1.5 packages like so:

Code:
emerge unmerge kdebase-3.1.5

You might also want to uninstall a version of arts as well.

After that, you might want to check /usr/kde/ for a 3.1 directory. Everything might not get deleted.

That should get most of it.
