kernel 2.6.3 problem

after patching my 2.6.0-test11 kernel source with patches for 2.6.0 , 2.6.1 , 2.6.2 , and 2.6.3, i proceeded to configure and compile it...
I followed the instructions from the framebuffer console thread, and selected all options it stated there...
after the restart, there was no high resolution, the pointer changed from _ to | , and I got these errors:

*Failed to calculate dependencies

*failed to start /etc/init.d/modules

input in flex scanner failed
*error loading keymaps

now, my first priority is to fix the keymap error, because I am used to a qwertz layout
my second priority is to change the pointer back to _
also, where do I set the automatic turning on of the num-lock light when loading a terminal?
I have to press num lock every time I start a new session, and it is starting to get very annoying
