32 on 64

Is it possible to install a 32-bit Gentoo Linux operating system on a AMD 64 FX-51 processor. For instance put that on a hard drive and another 64-bit install on a second hard-drive.

Yeh you can. I think you have to setup your CPU so thats its either in 64bit mode, or 64bit&32bit or just 32bit.

I don't really know how to do that

i just know its available.

The new AMD 64bit processors are able to have 32bit programs running, thats why they are so special

You don't have to change any setting in the CPU or the BIOS to be able to run a 32bit OS on AMD64.

On Startup the processor will behave just as any 32bit x86-processor until the OS switches it to 64bit-mode explicitly. A 32bit-OS just won't do this switching.
