|

In Outlook/Exchange you can log into another users mailbox without a password if you have access permission to their mailbox (which is given in Exchange). We use this feature here to have shared mailboxes and to allow other people to monitor mailboxes for people that are on vacation or have left.
I'm looking to replicate this using Linux/IMAP. The biggest thing is being able to do this without requiring a password.
Any one have any ideas on how I can implement this using Linux/IMAP? Clients will still be using Outlook. I don't care whether the users are system users or "virtual" users.
The solution that's looking to be the best bet is shared folders in Courier-IMAP. The main draw back being that permissions are handled by the filesystem, and delivering mail straight to a shared folder is discourged.
Any one else have any other ideas? Want to make sure I've looked at all the options before I go ahead with this.
Thanks. |

I think this can be done with cyrus-imapd using the ACL or somewhat feature. I am still trying to figure that out for myself. But i somehow have the feeling i am on the right track. Maybe we could keep each other informed about what we found out. |
