custom live cd?

how hard is it to make a custom live-cd (from an existing one maybe?) ?
see, i want to do an install using reiser4, but the kernel on the live-cd's doesn't support reiser4 afaik.. is there a (not too hard) way to get a custom kernel onto a live-cd?

I think you need to look at catalyst.
