I have problems loging out from a root shell. From a user shell I can just type 'exit' to get to login prompt, but when I first login with root or do a su the entire computer hangs when typing 'exit'. No matter if I do it from X or from shell.
The machine is a Dell Latitude C600 with 2.6.3-rc2-gentoo kernel. I've tried other 2.6 kernels but the problem persists.
I would very much appreciate som tips anout this, couse it's annoying rebooting the computer all the time. |

hello, does your entire machine hang? ssh doesn't exit properly if you have services in the background on the machine that you ssh'd into .. but your machine shouldn't hang completely though, it's only the shell ...

The entire machine hangs. If I do i.e. an emerge in another shell the HDD stops and the numlock led is not functioning either. |
