Hi,
I'm having trouble with Notification Area, gDesklets and Text Preview on my gnome 2.4.2 system.
I added the notification area applet to the panels (it shows only as vertical bar on the panel) but no application can add an icon to it. Rhythmbox ignores it, Gaim ignores it(I seted the systray integration) and xmule ignores it (also seted systray integration).
gDesklets simply refuses to work. Since I emerged then they do nothing.
Text Preview on Icons is also not working.
Does anyone have anyidea of what I did wrong?
Thanks,
gralves
PS: I already deleted .gnome* directories in my home folder to try to set gnome back to its "factory default" to no avial. |

For the notification panel, make sure that it (and whatever is left of it) is unlocked, otherwise apps cannot add icons to it since it cannot "grow". As for gdesklets, simply running gdesklets doesn't do anything. You have to emerge and run a few displays (emerge desklet-*, go to /usr/share/gdesklets/Displays and open the display files with gdesklets). Hope this helps _________________ The day Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck is probably the day that they start making vacuum cleaners |

re: text previews
are you using a non-standard theme? try using the default gnome icon theme... text previews should work...
i have a solution for non-standard themes. i personally modified the nuvola svg icon theme to get text previews working properly...
i'm planning on making a post in documentaiton/tips/tricks w/ the info soon... _________________ a razamatan doth speaketh,
