This is a broad question I know.
Also this pretains to linux but not specifically gentoo.
1.)
I am building a box at work..
I have compiled the kernel and the two Qlogic 2xxx cards work great execpt I
can't get any luns to show execpt the first one that I am looking at with each
card
Each card it connecting to a seprate SAN.
I did compile in "Probe all luns"
2.)
I have to have "NTFS support" // I did compile this in also althought it's not working.
3.) Unfortunatley the Kernel version is "2.4.9-e3" This is RedHat Advanced Server
Conclusion: As far as I know I compile everyting correctly b/c everything that used to work still does and now with the addition of two Qlogic cards working but I can't see all luns and can't mount NTFS...
I don't know if there is such a thing as Gentoo equivalent to RedHat Advanced Server but If so I would love to switch to It b/c I have been using gentoo almost since it's initial release and have more than pleased.
I have been able to get everyting to work every time (execpt once) but that was a mistake on my part.
If anyone has any ideas Please let me know.
I know that you would probably need to see the kernel config but at the moment I do not have access to it until latter nor do I have access to the error when trying to mount the NTFS partitions.
Although this is basically a generic question and should be easy to figure out I think I have just reached a point where I have been up too long and need to walk away and then come back.
Thanks again for the great support this Forum provides and for any help that you all may be able to provide with this pressing issue.

All the SAN hardware I've played with has the ability to deny access to disk LUNs based on the ID of the QLogic or other fibre-channel card. You might want to double-check that. Also double-check your fibre network, make sure you don't have any switches zoned improperly, etc., if that applies. Make sure you're using the latest kernel and driver releases available from Red Hat and QLogic as well.
Gentoo can be anything you want it to be, including something like Red Hat Advance Server. Someone may correct me on this, but the only real differences I've found between Red Hat Advance Server and the previous versions of Red Hat are changes in what gets installed automatically, and the fact that Red Hat wants you to pay for keeping Advance Server up to date. Unfortunately, QLogic seems to have only released binary RPMs specifically for Red Hat's kernel releases, so shoe-horning them into other distributions and kernels may prove difficult.
You'll really need to show the NTFS error you're getting before anyone can offer any troubleshooting advice. _________________ Proud to be a... eh, forget it.
