Hi, I'm curious as to what sharing would be best to use between a Gentoo system and my PowerBook (laptop) running OS X.

Despite there being no Windows on the network, would Samba be a good choice?

Or should I look to something more along the lines of NFS?

Thank you

- Scott

Hi Scott,

I'd go with NFS. Even if you do add Windows machines in the future, Microsoft now provides some utilities for working with NFS shares via Windows. Be careful with security when you setup NFS, especially if you're not on a secure network already.

The NFS-HOWTO worked great for me.
