PPC networking

im a NOOb to PPC and i cant seem to get my darn
dhcpcd eth0 to come up
i have modprobed appletalk module (i guess its right only one in there)
even tried to force it like
dhcp -h dtgnet.com -s 216.16.117.??? eth0
^^^ security
and it just times out i did this same thing on my x86 box and it worked fine.
is there some magic cmd line

gotta use dhcpcd -kn eth0

for those subborn toshiba cable modems
