Hey guys,
I'm taking the plunge in trying to install Gentoo 2004! I have to admit I'm a total n00b when it comes to Linux, but hey at least I am trying! Anyways I have a question about the USE variable when installing gentoo. Say if I wanted to use msn support would I have to add msn to the make.conf file and if so does that mean I also have to add "whatever" inside make.conf just for that program to work? Thanks!!! |

There is a section in the make.conf:
This sets the ssl and gtk USE-flags and unsets the qt USE-Flags.
You can also install ufed:
and then run
to edit USE-Flags ain a more comfortable way. |

You do NOT need to have a USE variable enabled for every program that you are going to run. Look in /usr/portage/profiles/use.desc for a list of available USE variables and a brief description.
