Hey all,
I have two question i was hoping someone could help me answering:
First:
I would like too hear if it is possible to stip gentoo from old unused packages that no other package depends on, and from packages that are not i favorit list?
and in the same hand update the system (maby this is a requriment) ??
I have just installed gentoo 2 weeks ago (I really like it ), and have tryed out much software from the protage to see what i best prefer, now i would like to clean out...
Secund:
When i try send pgp signed messages with Sylpheed claws, it wants me to enter a passphere every time?? Should it's only ask me when i recive an encrypted mail?
I canø't se why it needs the passphere?? Anyone care to explain?
All help would be appriciated

Hi!
There is some possibility to remove usused packages. I can't remember what it was, but I surely can remember that it was dangerous and killed my whole system, I had to remerge a lot of stuff, but first had to get portage working again. I think I won't do it again, at least not that automatic version.
Concerning your signing question - of course you need the passphrase for signing mails. You need it for every action that your private key is used for. In case someone gains access to your private key and doesn't need the passphrase for signing, he/she could write an email and sign it with your key, so the mail would look like it was written by you. But preventing such things is the sense behind signing mails.
Hope that was understandable.
Greets,
Alex |

will remove all packages that are installed but not part of the world file or dependencies of packages in the world file.
rebuilds things which are broken. It is included in gentoolkit. |
