Been talking to the folks on the channel but it doesnt seem anyone can figure out this obtuse error.
I have a emachines 6805 laptop. Using Stage1 of the recent 2004 LiveCD I installed to my system. Stage1 went fine with no errors. The same applies for Stage2. Using muru's config and adding some options like automount, i compiled my kernel with amd64 options. However, when I reboot my machine, I seem to get the "Unable to open initial console" error and it reboots automatically. Grub is fine, I'm not sure what else is the problem here.
Anyone want to take a guess? |

Just an idea, but if your using udev, make sure that you've added udev to the 'boot' run level with rc-update. I seem to recall also that some of the older verions of udev had a problem where they did not create the /dev/console node properly.
