hi all,
i am having a few problems with my installation of linux on dell inspiron 1100. could u pls help me. below r the things that i am stuck with:
Code: | 1. i never get a beep on any of my pc speakers from the console. how do i fix that.
2. i use ndisloader to enable my wireless card. how do i configure it such that when i insert the card it exectues a command to load the module and also configures the essid.
3. i connect to variety of networks. at home i am off a wireless network, at school direct wired network and sometime i have no network. is there a way that i can auto-detect or maybe select which one of the networks i have at boot time and start proper services accordingly. |
any help would be appreciated.

As for the connecting to the wired network. ifplugd does exactly what you like. You can script it to check what network you are on and from there mount a nfs volume if nessessary or set a static IP or whatever you like.
I use pcmcia-cs for my wireless but I don't know how that works( if at all) with your wireless setup. _________________ Lares Moreau <lares.moreau@gmail.com>
