hi all,
i am having a few problems with my installation of linux on dell inspiron 1100. could u pls help me. below r the things that i am stuck with:
Code:
1. i never get a beep on any of my pc speakers from the console. how do i fix that.
2. i use ndisloader to enable my wireless card. how do i configure it such that when i insert the card it exectues a command to load the module and also configures the essid.
3. i connect to variety of networks. at home i am off a wireless network, at school direct wired network and sometime i have no network. is there a way that i can auto-detect or maybe select which one of the networks i have at boot time and start proper services accordingly.

any help would be appreciated.
thanx a lot,
parminder

As for the connecting to the wired network. ifplugd does exactly what you like. You can script it to check what network you are on and from there mount a nfs volume if nessessary or set a static IP or whatever you like.
I use pcmcia-cs for my wireless but I don't know how that works( if at all) with your wireless setup.
