|
|
Hi,
Recently upgraded to firefox and installed Ximian Openoffice. When I try to start either firefox or Openoffice, I get this error
Quote: | sidcarter@gandalf sidcarter $ firefox
/usr/lib/MozillaFirefox/run-mozilla.sh: line 451: 20237 Segmentation fault "$prog" ${1+"$@"}
|
And with Openffice
Quote: | sidcarter@gandalf sidcarter $ xooffice
running openoffice.org setup...
/usr/bin/xooffice: line 174: 20255 Segmentation fault /opt/Ximian-OpenOffice/program/setup ${UPDATEFLAG} -R:/etc/ximian-openoffice/autoresponse-1.1.0.conf 1>&/dev/null
setup failed.. abort |
Anything wrong with the shell or is it just me ?
Thanks |

Well... there's not really that many ways to fix these segmentation faults... In my experience it is most of the time related to your cflags settings, in other words try rebuilding firefox using different cflags, same for ximian-openoffice, If that doesn't work try installing the binary versions instead. also, if you removed the strip-flags section from the glibc ebuild it might be a good idea to rebuild glibc using standard settings in the ebuild. |

i have the same problem with openoffice-ximian-1.1.50.
_Nomad_: what cflags did you use to compile ximian openoffice? i used -march=athlon-xp -O2 -pipe --fomit-frame-pointer. the first 3 are supposed to be safe, but i don't know about the last one. |

i have the same problem, even with firefox-bin and mozilla. It sounds weird but it came first after i have changed my harddisk.
i have emerged every version, but always the same.
Do i need to emerge glib as well? |
