Hi folks,
have been playing with gentoo for a year now and have some hardware that still does not work correctly.
My main system does not power off, or at least it powers off when it likes to! All i see, when it does not poweroff, is acpi_call_power_off and then i have to shutdown manually.
Have tried several kernels and diferent confs since 2.4.19 and result is always the same. Mainboard in abit is7-g, NON apm bios, fully acpi compliant. Bios flashed with latest image.
Have also played with the acpid thingy a bit, of course didn´t helped much.
So, any ideas ??
Another annoyning thing is going on with my lappy.
You know, through dpms ( or something called like this) the monitor turns off after a while if you are not using the system. Well, if this happens i cannot recover the X session, even if i can ssh to it.
I know the most obvious would be disabling dpms ( so i have now) but i would like to have this feature as it is quite usefull.
thanx in advance for any tip ! |

ACPI/DPMS:
perhaps you should give 2.6 a try ??! my touchpad suddenly worked by switching to 2.6
ACPI:
I had the same prob with my amd 800 system. Finally I gave up trying acpi and switched back to good old apm and apmd. That worked for me.
Did you try the the "DEBUG" - Option ??
Code: |
CONFIG_ACPI_DEBUG=y

Thanx for your lines !
Im already using latest love-sources ( kernel 2.6.4-rc1) and have the same problem. APM is not an option; i tried once and i got in my dmesg " no apm bios found"
Will enable acpi debug... hope that helps to know whats going on. |

Have you considered a more stable kernel stream? love-sources is pretty bleeding-edge |
