I have searched the forum for a similar problem but have been unable to locate one.
I have been running gentoo for some time now. Can't remember how long. Anyway I have had this rather annoying problem which I can't seem to figure out.
After the computer has been on for some amount of time (different spans from 1 hour to 24 hours) the HD light on the front of the computer comes on and stays on until I reboot. After this happens the computer gets noticably slower and slower.
As you can imagine this is an annoying problem to say the least. I am inclined to think it is probably something I have done wrong with the gentoo install as I did not have this problem while running SUSE.
Has anyone else had this problem or perhaps knows what the problem is.

Weird, never heard of this before, maybe a kernel problem? You might want to try disconnecting any other ide devices so you just have the one hard drive hooked up and see if that makes any difference. |

Figures it would be a new problem. LOL
I am thinking it must be something to do with the kernel.
