Okay, I have had terrible trouble getting X and my ATI card to work in Gentoo. I downloaded Knoppix. Knoppix finds ALL my hardware. How can I use knoppix files and install Gentoo to the other parts? Do I have to install Knoppix's live CD to my harddrive before Gentoo? _________________ Dr Whom

The easiest way will be to install Gentoo as usual and just use the Knoppix config as reference - /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 is the autogenerated config file from Knoppix for X, copy it to /etc/X11/XF86Config in your Gentoo install. Also run "lsmod" in Knoppix and write down the modules, you'll have to include them in your kernel config in gentoo. |
