Hi all... I did something silly again. I was trying to add a 2.6.3 kernel to see if I would have more success with ALSA and my vid card, but ran into some diffulties. I compiled the kernel a few different times, and one of the times I forgot to copy the image over to /boot and re-run lilo. So I thought, No problem, just boot up the 2.4 kernel and redo it. Well, it appears I'd forgotten to add ext3 support the last time I compiled my 2.4 kernel (which is the fs of /boot). SO, no dice there. I booted up the Gentoo cd and tried to do a make install with that, after chrooting and all. I have my usual system set to sync with the hardware clock [Local Time]. It appears the Gentoo cd kernel syncs it to [GMT]. When I did the make install in the 2.6.3 kernel dir, I got a crapload of Time Skew errors.
My question is this: Can I just re-run make install after I get booted back into the 2.4 kernel, or do I need to re-compile the entire kernel and modules? I was going to just change the fs of /boot to reiserfs anyway. |
