The font is called radio stars, the real version probably shouldn't use a font but should spell out whatever it is like 'chat' in the xchat icon. |
Not having that font, I wouldn't know I like the idea though. Oh, and the strokes need to be rgb(0.15,0.10,0.20) and the box should be at least a little bit rounded. |

I edited the audio, images, and video MIME types and matched the strokes. I didn't fill in the text- I don't think we should use fonts. DGT, maybe you can use the same font style you have for the XChat icon? Also, it looked kind of cool with different fill color, but I just kept with the theme. Try playing around and see what you think...

[edit] here is a PNG demo for a JPG file, here's one for OGG, and one more for quicktime. Again, the colors just match the theme, but it looks pretty sweet with some other colors. I think the font matches the theme pretty well too. You can check it out at: http://www.1001fonts.com/font_details.html?font_id=1185 _________________ www.manatee.servemp3.com

hi,
I downloaded the kde theme, but it doesn't seem to be working. I installed the theme using the tar.bz2 file from the control center. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to run the generate.py file, and if so, what after that?
Cheers! |

Just run generate.py, and then reload icon theme. That's all you need to do. |

Those look really good Could you try to replicate the fonts for all the mimetypes you want in pure SVG, i.e. without using text in that font? |

@guy: I like that idea, and I'm working on making the different mimetype icons now. I think I am going to use the font, but convert it to a path so it renders correctly in GNOME. When I finish that I'll make an 0.3.1 release or something of the GNOME icon theme.
@telex4: Have you had a chance to try to add the kde stuff to the ebuild? _________________ Lila themes | The Porthole Portage Frontend | SVG-Utils |

Not really but I have uploaded the tarball to a web site I run so you can link to it in the ebuild without having to work out KDE Look's crazy download system:

I'd love to see it, but the link you posted doesn't work anymore. Is there any place else where I can download the XMMS theme?
TIA,
Stefan. |

I have plenty of free time today, so if there are any you want me to try and take care of let me know. I'm not so handy with inkscape, but let me know _________________ www.manatee.servemp3.com

Okay, so far I've done archives, images and video mimetypes with the little text box. Download a copy here. NOTE: There's no need for other's do download this, it is a pre-release and I'll to a real release when more mimetypes are done!
If you'd like to you can try to tackle all the audio types (check out /usr/share/icons/gnome/48x48/mimetypes for all the different types and names). I changed your templates somewhat as you'll see, but you should be able to copy/paste the text box into the audio image and use the rulers to place if in the right place. Just look at my files as examples. Now, the trick with the text is to get the right letters in there, then select the text and convert it to a path so it no longer requires that font (but also won't be editable as text anymore). If you need to you can edit the character spacing after it's a path as well. (with the node editing tool)
I'll work on some of the other types tonight if I can, and I think we'll have most of them done within a few days.
EDIT: For some reason the different archive types are not showing up in nautilus for me (GNOME 2.6), nor are SVG images showing with my icons (they are using the default gnome icon). Also, python files show up with the shell script icon... Any idea why this might be or how I can fix it? _________________ Lila themes | The Porthole Portage Frontend | SVG-Utils |

Sorry for the double post, but...
Worked fine for me ealier with wget:
Code: | wget http://www.geocities.com/konidatoriyama/Industrial-Lila.tar.gz |
It does seem to not let me have it from epiphany though _________________ Lila themes | The Porthole Portage Frontend | SVG-Utils |

That's probably just geocities... enter the address in the location bar and hit enter and it should work, but open it from a link and it doesn't. |

I think geocities has a bandwidth limit, you just tried to get it at a bad time, try again at a different time, usually they reset the bandwidth limit every hour. |

Hehe, don't worry about it, I'll take care of it
EDIT: Didn't want to double post again, so this is a silent release
The Lila GNOME icon theme 0.3.1 is out, and the ebuild has been updated to reflect this, so feel free to overwrite the old one
Let me know what you guys think, as it's basically just a mimetype release with a few extra icons here and there. _________________ Lila themes | The Porthole Portage Frontend | SVG-Utils |

Well, thanks, that did it.
Oddly enough I'm still getting a "The Page is not available" error, if I click on the link with Konqueror - it seems Geocities does not mean a 404 by this as I thought in the first place. Maybe they should give using standard HTTP error codes a thought.
Great icon theme BTW, thanks.
Regards,
Stefan. |

Just thought I'd mention I've updated some things again. I didn't like the saturation level and color settings on the gdm/grub themes, so I've changed them and am hosting them on my server as the official versions. The ebuild has been updated to reflect this, and a grub USE flag has been added (and for people that missed the mimetype update, the GNOME theme is now version 0.3.1 and has some nice new icons. I also encountered some permission problems, so I use chmod in the ebuild to fix that now. Everything but the KDE theme should install fine, and I just need someone to tell me where KDE themes are installed, because I can't find it online (everywhere just tells me to go to the control center ) When I get the KDE part functional I will submit the ebuild
Also, how does everyone like the new mimetype icons? _________________ Lila themes | The Porthole Portage Frontend | SVG-Utils |

Looking at the ebuild for another KDE icon theme, noia, it seems to do this:
Code: |
need-kde 3
[i]... unpacking stuff blah blah[/i]
src_install(){
dodir $PREFIX/share/icons/
cp -r ${S} ${D}/${PREFIX}/share/icons/
}

I don't know why I didn't think of looking at other ebuilds that install KDE themes... Anyway, I don't want to inherit the kde eclass, so I've used the gentoo-artwork ebuilds as examples and use ${KDEDIR}/share/icons, but I need someone to test it and let me know if it works... _________________ Lila themes | The Porthole Portage Frontend | SVG-Utils |

Hey Maybe I can theme the Gaim panel display, I know the Wasp theme can do it. The question is who would want me to? Post your thoughts. The code that does this is....
CODE:
stock ["gaim-dialog-auth"] = {{"gaim_auth.svg"}}
stock ["gaim-dialog-error"] = {{"gaim_error.svg"}}
stock ["gaim-dialog-info"] = {{"gaim-dialog-info"}}
stock ["gaim-icon-away"] = {{"gaim_offline.svg"}}
stock ["gaim-icon-online"] = {{"gaim_online.svg"}}
stock ["gaim-info"] = {{"gaim-dialog-info"}}
And a further modification of Industrial-Gentoo:
http://www.geocities.com/konidatoriyama/Industrial-Gentoo.tar.gz
Modifications:
Background is white, and when you move the mouse onto a button the text changes to white. |

Sounds good to me
Do you think you could version your releases so that people can tell which one they have? (i.e. Industrial-Gentoo-Lila-0.1.tar.bz2 or something) If you do that I'll add it to the ebuild and it will be installed when the gtk USE flag is set.
P.S. It would be nice to have the xfce and xmms themes versioned to _________________ Lila themes | The Porthole Portage Frontend | SVG-Utils |

Looks great (I actually prefer this darker shade of purple) however there seems to be a problem in the gtkrc file. I get this when starting apps:
Code: | /usr/share/themes/Industrial-Gentoo/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:181: error: invalid string constant "metacity-frame", expected valid string constant |
Seems to me that this is a simple case of the metacity-frame style not actually being defined.
In an unrelated matter, I noticed recently that the icons for samba folders were not defined so I made a quick windows (ugh) icon and put it over the Lila folder icon. The result can be found here. This is my first attempt at creating a (somewhat) original work with SVG, so let me know of any problems in the icon so that I don't make the same mistake twice. In order for the icon to actually work, it seems that a symlink must be created in the mimetypes directory called gnome-mime-x-directory-smb-share.svg. It seems that the samba shares are not actually considered as directories.
I've also noticed that none of the emblems are themed yet, though some of them (such as desktop exist already). This could be something to look into theming as Lila matures. Any word on that CVS space yet? _________________ Backup - The duplicate copy of crucial data that no one bothered to make; used only in the abstract.
