Heh, apparantly Freedesktop.org created a mimetype for index.theme files aswell. A quick hack for application-x-theme:

The T-shirt is borrowed from the lovely icon for the Gnome Theme Manager.

i believe no one has done an ebuild yet. for the lazy ones (like me) i modified the old ebuild to reflect the changes. you can get it here.
i also increased the version number to 0.3. hope you don't mind.

I'll try and get a KDE release out in the next few days that has no icon differences to your release (e.g. PDF ;)) except for KDE-specific icons of course, as we discussed.

Thanks for the ebuild, but this is what I get when I try to build the digest:

I checked the new gnome theme and discovered that it has some svg emblems now, great!! But, when you open a folder the position of the emblem changes. I don't think that is supposed to be.
Here's an image of what I mean:

I have a problem with the gtk1 theme. It doesn't work! Only the gtk-default theme comes up, if i switch to industrial-gentoo-lila theme.

How about the gtk stock-error icon for the emblem-noread?

This has nothing to do with the post of kKDu but in the gtk1 theme the "gtkrc" file on line 5 reads:
Code:
  bg[NORMAL]      = { 0.9, 0.9, 0.9 }

while it should read
Code:
  bg[NORMAL]      = { 0.95, 0.95, 0.95 }

to have the same color as the gtk2 theme background color.

it worked fine for me yesterday evening (GMT +2) and i can also grab it with my browser right now, so maybe it was just a problem with the server. i'd suggest you try it again...

Or not... redhat-artwork won't compile, either from the lila-artwork ebuild, or separately (yeah, ok, I suppose they're both using the same redhat-artwork ebuild):

Naturally, the lila-artwork ebuild won't continue once redhat-artwork has failed.... what can I do (other than go back to extracting all the packages manually and merging them into the icon tree the same way)?

i'm sorry, but i've got no idea what's going on there. maybe it's something related to kde (using gnome here), but i can't tell for sure.

I'm using GNOME as well, but KDE 3.2.2 is installed. Could it be that this theme is only meant for KDE 3.1.x?

The KDE icon theme will work fine in any 3.x versions. To reassure you though, I'm using 3.2.1 and of course since I do the port it works fine with PNGs :)

I didn't mean the Lila KDE icon theme; I have that installed manually and it works fine. I meant the redhat-artwork Bluecurve theme, which is apparently an RDEPEND of the lila-artwork ebuild I'm trying to emerge (haven't looked at the ebuild yet).

that's right. you could try to comment the redhat-artwork lines and see if it works.

Code:

DEPEND="gtk? ( gnome-base/librsvg
      ...
      #x11-themes/redhat-artwork
      ...

Code:

src_unpack() {
   if [ `use gtk` ] ; then
      ...
      #mv ${WORKDIR}/Lilacurve ${WORKDIR}/Lilacurve-gtk
      ...

Code:

src_install() {
   if [ `use gtk` ] ; then
      ...
      #dodir /usr/share/themes/Lilacurve
      #cp -R ${WORKDIR}/Lilacurve-gtk/* ${D}/usr/share/themes/Lilacurve
      ...

or you could try
Code:
# USE="-kde" emerge lila-artwork

hope this helps.

Yes, it does help (haven't tried it yet), but if I comment out the whole bluecurve dependency, won't that break part or all the install of the GTK theme, which is why bluecurve is being installed?

I will try the -kde first, maybe that will be enough.

Got it!

I emerged redhat-artwork separately using "-kde"; aside from the large number of missing frames in cursor 'watch' at size 48 (not a fatal error), it compiled fine.

I then compiled the lila-artwork ebuild normally (with KDE support), and it installed Ximian-artwork and the Lila artwork with no errors reported.

Thanks for the help, and I hope this episode helps others having any issues with the ebuild.

i'm glad it works for you now.

i think it *should* work all the same, only that you've got a theme less to choose from. but i might be wrong here.

have you tried emerging a newer version of the redhat-artwork package?

I was about to say,"there isn't one"... but then I checked and lo and behold there is. A much newer one. I must not have used ACCEPT_KEYWORDS to check that (but thought I had).

Hmmm. I don't need it, but now I want it ;). Emerging frenzy!!!!! :D

Excellent new icons that were posted! I especially like the ipod!

@motub: My server is on a dynamic IP, so it can go offline for a few minutes (sometimes up to half an hour, though this is usually rare) while my dns records are updated because of the IP change.

@kKDu: Does the original Industrial theme work?

@9-speed: Thank you for pointing out that emblem flaw. I didn't even think about it! Fixed in CVS now, and I'll do an 0.4.1 release of the icons in a few hours. For those that can't wait, there is a download tarball link while browsing CVS.

Also, I've set up a somewhat "official" IRC channel for the svg-icons project, of which Lila is part of. Feel free to join and chat in #svg-icons on irc.freenode.net. I think a more permanent channel will help us all communicate better.

KDE update!

I've released a new version for KDE (0.7.1), with some of the new icons in. The most important change is that I've moved icons around so that KDE now has the same icons as GNOME wherever possible.

I've also included a download for a blue version of the theme, just to show off dgt84's tools ;)

Yes this theme work very well, I'm using it at the moment. So I'm very confused why lila-industrial-theme don't work.

Just announcing a revision release of the GNOME icons to fix a few issues (plus I added the recently submitted icons and made a few more emblems). There is also an update to the Lila-backgrounds package, which now has two new backgrounds.
