i have been looking for some wireless detection tools for my laptop, however due to the chipset things like kismet will not work, i have found "wavemon" which can list AP's by their MAC address, which is ok but essid would be better.

what scanning tools do other people use? i have seen bsd-airtools and it looks great, sadly i cannot get dstumbler to compile :-(

anyway has anybody found a decent scanner.

(as for apradar it looks great but fails to compile, when i found the soloution it compiled but then segfaulted)

Hi,
Why don't you try a binary of bsd-airtools? I have tried kismet, but I also couldn't get it to work.
