Hi Community,
i"d like to use Gentoo since it"s incredibly slick, fast and up-to-date.
But for i have been using Debian Testing for a very long time i get used to a great variety of packages.
I don't want to blame Gentoo for offering less packages primarily, but i'd appreciate if they weren't broken!
Is it a kind of problem which comes due to the fact, that everything is being built?
Gentoo is a very young distro, maybe this will improve?
I don't like fixing around just to get something installed.
This should not offend those nice people who are involved in gentoo, but it's a honest question i'd like to get an answer to >8^)

The more people that take the time to write packages, the more packages Gentoo will then have.

Of course it will improve. Gentoo is a 1.x product. Debian has been around for years.

When you notice problems, file bug reports. The only way Gentoo will continue to improve is if the people using the product take the time to provide feedback to the developers. Feedback should come in the form of feature requests/suggestions and bug reports.
