Hi,
I've installed Gentoo on a laptop. When I work in office I use a dhcp and all is ok. When I'm at home and work offline net.eth0 doesn't start and I can't start apache (the command I launch is /etc/init.d/apache start) because net.eth0 isn't working (looking at the script /etc/init.d/apache I found that it depends by net and then it try to start net.eth0).

How can I use apache at home offline? Should I change my /etc/conf.d/net? I'm developing a web site on my laptop and then is enough for me to start apache and browsing locally.

Thanks.

Hi,
I've found that if I change the parameter iface_eth0 from "dhcp" to a fixed ip address there is no problem. Of course when I work in office I must set "dhcp".

Thanks for the help.
