I've got a problem with installing gentoo through a proxy. It's a WinGate proxy... I've set up my eth0 via "net-setup eth0"... I can ping computers in the LAN. I've also configured DNS to the IP of my proxy server. When I ping, i.e. www.heise.de then I get the following line:
"PING www.heise.de (193.99.144.71) 56(84) bytes of data" - the system gets the IP of the sites I am trying to ping but no transfer is being established... So there must be some kind of connection to the internet!?
I'd be very happy if somebody knows an answer to this mystery.
Thx! |

hotwire-
I think you might need to add a gateway assuming you can only ping you local addresses. try this--->
routeadd default gw x.x.x.x
x.x.x.x being the address of your gateway. and if that works i believe you can change the /etc/conf.d/net file to perminately add the gateway |
