Hoi,

ich versuche grade meiner platte auf die sprünge zu helfen, nur nimmt hdparm -d1 nicht 8O

bash-2.05b# hdparm -k1 -c1 -m16 -d1 /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
setting 32-bit IO_support flag to 1
setting multcount to 16
setting using_dma to 1 (on)
HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted
setting keep_settings to 1 (on)
multcount = 16 (on)
IO_support = 1 (32-bit)
using_dma = 0 (off)
keepsettings = 1 (on)
bash-2.05b# hdparm -tT /dev/hda

was bedeutet: HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted?

habe ich da vieleicht was im kernel vergessen? ich habe eine neue 120GB platte Seagate Baracuda

Kann es sein, dass du vergessen hast UDMA Support in den Kernel einzufuegen? Oder vielleicht den Generic IDE Treiber bzw. einen falschen nutzt, statt den fuer deinen Controller?

Das Problem hatte ich auch einmal - da meinte er er nutzt lieber den Generic, als den richtigen.

An welchem Controller hast du das Teil haengen?
Mich wuerde mal die Performance von dem Geraet interessieren.

Ich hab eine Maxtor 160gb / 7200upm / 8mb cache an einem SIL 133er Raid Controller ( aber ohne Raid Mode ) und komme auf
