I have same problem on only one of 4 workstations. I have had a local mirror for months, and its worked fine.
I upgraded to gentoo-rsync-mirror-1.0-r3, but started having difficulty at that point w all workstations. I unmerged that whole package, since I now know that it is for official mirrors, and 3 workstations are fine now with the local mirror setup from the forum.
The one workstation will hang consistently after dl file list before beggining compare.
I have also reemerged rsync, making sure I have 2.6.0 on all machines. Ive restarted rsyncd on server. |

I had a similar problem. I would emerege sync and it would hang at the same point in the tree everytime.
I spent ages trying to update rsync, downgrade rsync, check partitions and change HDD, and everything else you could think of. None of it worked. In the end I changed my NIC and it's been working perfectly since.
Hope this helps |

It may have been complete coincedence, but I put my machine in the DMZ on my router, rebooted the router and re-ran emerge synch and it started flying. |
